Data remediation is often positioned as a necessary evil. That framing misses the point. Better data improves reporting, migration confidence, operational controls, customer journeys, regulatory evidence, and AI outcomes.
The question is not whether every data issue needs to be fixed. It is which data issues block the outcomes that matter most.
What to prioritise
Prioritise data quality where it affects decisions, automation, compliance, reconciliation, or customer impact. Define ownership and controls so the improvement lasts beyond the initial cleanup.
This is especially important in ERP transformation and migration work, where poor data can create downstream risk long after the technical cutover appears complete.
The AI connection
AI systems amplify the quality of the information they use. Remediation, lineage, governance, and architecture are therefore part of the AI value chain, not a separate back-office activity.
